
Mayela Harris is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has worked with children, families, and seniors for over 30 years. Mayela has devoted her career to empowering individuals to improve their well-being and satisfaction with life. She is a strong proponent of allowing people to make their own decisions and work toward their goals at their own pace. Her favorite therapeutic saying is “I can stand alone … But I am at my most powerful when I am holding someone else’s hand.” Mayela spent the first 13 years of her career working with children and families in a variety of challenging settings and the past 17 years is hospice and palliative care providing individual and family therapy in patients’ homes, nursing homes or hospital settings.
Education: Mayela has a Bachelor’s in psychology from St. Lawrence University and a Master of Social Work in Social Welfare from the State University of New York Albany.
Fun fact: Mayela enjoys an active lifestyle with two Jack Russell terriers, playing tennis, hiking and swimming with an appreciation of photography and the creative arts.
