Sarah Alexander, MSW, LCSW
Part-time Therapist, Silver Linings for Seniors
Sarah has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2007, and prior to that, worked as a music therapist and program coordinator. She has clinical experience with a variety of populations: patients with dementia, outpatient mental health, hospice and grief counseling, spiritual support in the hospital, clients with disabilities, and emergency assistance for families in crisis. Her last position was as a counselor at East Carolina University’s Counseling Center.
Sarah is originally from southern Indiana, where she began violin at age 5 and studied music therapy. She moved to North Carolina where she received her Master of Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill with courses at Duke Divinity school. Sarah is involved in her church and has performed as a violinist in orchestras and for weddings for 30 years.
In her clinical work, Sarah walks alongside those who may be struggling in relationships, coping with change, grieving, or wanting to improve quality of life. Her passion is hearing meaning in life stories, and in understanding who people are and who they strive to be. She often uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in her practice. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, being in nature, discovering new desserts and learning something each day.
